Dear Single Mom, I am sure we can all agree that parenting is not an easy task. I know that dealing with disagreements, pressures of work, criticism from the people you love most and the struggles of disciplining your child at times can be so overwhelming. I am at a place where I constantly have to motivate myself. Motivate myself to go work, church and even complete school assignments. But my goals keep me inspired even on my worst days, you know the days where you feel like giving up on everything? I think about how every decision I make will either put me closer or further away from my goals. I know that single moms lack motivation because we find ourselves comparing ourselves to other moms and trying to live up to what others expect of us. All we can do is be the best version of ourselves and love our children unconditionally. I can be motivated and in the blink of an eye, feel completely discouraged. Have you been there? I feel that I am most productive when I am on schedule. I have to prioritize from what matters most to least. The outcome is always rewarding when you enforce yourself. So do not wait until you feel motivated to accomplish a task. Also, acknowledge distractions and refocus. There are times where I have to take a social media break, just to concentrate and that‘s okay! Depression and anxiety can also cause you to be completely unmotivated. There was a time in my life where I was depressed and anxious that taking NyQuil every night became normal and I thought that eventually, things would get better. NO! I had to pray myself out of it. If you have been there, you know. If you are there now, reach out to someone you trust and ask them to pray with you. If you feel like you have no one, reach out to me. I will be that friend that you need. I will pray for you as well as my team. Dear single mom, I want you to know that you are not alone. Children are always watching how you handle every situation and every decision will influence your child’s life. Remember that there is no such thing as a perfect mom, but you can be the best mom you can be and that is all that matters. Even when life is not going your way, no matter how much you pray about it, there is always a reason to be grateful. Be grateful for your job and health, even if it’s not exactly where you want it to be. Show gratitude to the people that help you with your little ones and realize that they do it out of love. Be wise and pray about it, all of it. Praise God while you are waiting for what you are praying for, whatever it is and realize that it's all in His timing. Jeremiah 29:11 "For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." I pray that you remain motivated and seek God first in all that you do. Signed with motivation, Julie Cruz
